“In High School I was in the best shape of my life. I played softball, ran track, and when I wasn’t doing all of that I was playing some other sport for fun. I never paid attention to what I ate, but I know it was never healthy. I got to college and maintained my weight for about a year and then I started gaining! I guess I gained the “Sophomore 15.” Me and my friend decided to join a gym and kick our habits and that worked for about a year. I stopped having a workout buddy, started getting stressed from work out of college, and basically life happened.. and maintaining my weight and proper nutrition was the last thing I had time to work on. I ended up putting on an extra 20 pounds. What I became the most upset about, was the fact that I couldn’t partake in most sports any more because I had allowed myself to become so out of shape. After that I decided to take the “easy” way out and not really work for it. I tried this pill and that pill, I bought books, workout series DVDs, etc, BUT nothing was really working because I didn’t have a foundation for healthy habits. I wanted a quick fix and that wasn’t ideal.

I found Keri through the wonderful web and on a whim decided to contact her to see what her online IgniteGirls+ program was about. I got excited with the prospect of someone giving me nutrition habits to follow and giving workouts to challenge me!! Not only did Keri provide the foundation for life changing habits, but she was also there for me whenever I needed advice or had questions (and trust me I had many)!! The nutrition guidelines were the most difficult for me, but Keri was always there to guide me and once I got it I finally started seeing those results. And the workouts were by far the most challenging, yet fun ones, I’ve ever experienced! :) Seeing results was really important to me, but the only thing that got me through the program was Keri’s constant inspiration. My journey with Keri and IgniteGirls+ has really been life changing! Having been very athletic all my life and a competitive gymnast growing up, being healthy and fit always “came naturally”, however after college I felt my metabolism slowing and the pounds were packing on. I will admit that for a few years I was in denial that I no longer had an athletic build. The truth was even though I was still going to the gym regularly, I really wasn’t seeing results because I wasn’t being up front and honest about my lifestyle and eating habits. And it really came down to just making small adjustments and setting daily goals to help get back on track. It’s not like I had to stop eating all the things I love and give up everything. In fact, it’s the opposite philosophy with IgniteGirls+ because it’s about finding balance!

I have learned SO much more from Keri than just how to lose weight and be healthy. I’ve learned what it means to find balance with food and exercise all while facing everyday obstacles and life challenges. I’m the perfect example of someone who just doesn’t have the time to workout or prep healthy meals, but in the end, those are just excuses. Keri has taught me, along with all the other IgniteGirls+ members, that you can pretty much do anything you set your mind to as long as you make yourself a priority. It’s not about dieting and living at the gym 7 days a week. It’s about making small changes, being accountable and being part of a community of people who want to see you succeed.

“Before my wedding, I came to Keri Ford in a panic and really wanted to shake things up with my workout routine. My body had gotten way too used to the norm and my fear of wearing white in photos was causing major anxiety.

Before signing up with Keri, I worked out on a regular basis, with spinning, pilates and walking… but I am also someone who absolutely loves food – not the best combination when trying to lose weight. I was in denial that not only diet, but when and how you eat, play a very large role in weight loss and maintenance. My demanding work schedule only allowed for so many hours at the gym to combat my caloric intake.

Keri tailored a challenging nutritional and physical routine specifically for me and I saw huge results in about 8-10 weeks. She addressed so many issues, like metabolic rate change, having a balanced relationship with food, getting a cheat meal once a week (yay!), keeping a food journal that she would assess every week (eek), and creating fun and challenging workouts that I never got bored of.

I never thought I could do 20+ real pushups after years of doing girlie ones forever. Her encouragement and commitment to my weight loss played such a huge part of being able to achieve my goals. Ironically, both of our wedding dates had been scheduled, prior to even knowing each other, for the same day on opposite coasts! She knew what I was going through and it was through her determination and dedication that I was able to rise to every challenge she put in front of me. As each week went by, watching the scale go down was really an incredible feeling, even if it was only half a pound.

My only regret is that I didn’t go to her sooner! The wedding came and went quickly, but what I learned from her are habits I try to implement in my daily life. I was able to shed the 15+ pounds in time for the big day, which was a huge shock to me.

Keri truly cares about getting results, in a healthy way, and finding creative and realistic solutions to help you achieve your individual goals. She is truly an inspiration in fitness and nutrition. Don’t let that blonde hair and smile fool you, she is as tough as she is sweet, but you will definitely thank her later.

“Where do I begin??? I have always been an avid exerciser. Sadly at 19, I had an exercise addiction that led to a small relapse of disordered eating. After that, I began exercising in moderation. With my love for running, I have completed a total of 5 half marathons and countless 10k’s, but I was never happy with my body. After my second son was born I was having difficulty “getting back in shape”. I worked with a few trainers from the gym, but they never really heard what my goals were. And due to the training format, it was so cookie cutter. I never felt that I had accomplished a solid workout, not to mention how repetitive it was.

It has been so refreshing working with Keri online with IgniteGirls+ and and in her outdoor group fitness classes; FINALLY a trainer who gets it! When I started training with her it was clear from the get-go that I had found a professional-level athletic trainer in her, but I was pleasantly surprised by her profound knowledge and understanding of nutrition and food’s effect on our bodies.

Most fitness trainers I’ve encountered tend to follow the calorie-focused or low-carb driven “diets” that are based on the USDA food pyramid which is greatly influenced by economics, but Keri has a real understanding of the simple facts which are contrary to what the food advertisers tend to brainwash us with. She gets that we need to put REAL, unprocessed, WHOLE foods in our bodies in balance in order to be healthy and to be physically and mentally capable of reaching our athletic potential. Since I have been working with Keri, I feel more informed and empowered with knowledge about what I’m really putting in my body; which means no more hormone and antibiotic-injected meats, no more processed foods that barely resemble the original fruit or vegetable they may have started out as, no more high-fructose corn-syrup products and no more of that junk that my body doesn’t “recognize”, as Keri puts it. “I started with IgniteGirls+ with Keri a year after my daughter was born. It has changed my life dramatically. When I started, I was about 140 lbs, due to pregnancy and laziness. I found IgniteGirls via Instagram, and I instantly fell in love with Keri. After having my second child I was looking for some inspiration again and I needed to find moms just like me. When I came across IgniteGirls, it was a dream come true. Not only were Keri’s fitness values similar to my own, but she also had a baby about a month ahead of me. Being a mother of two and going to college full-time I needed a push. I needed someone to tell me what to do in the gym/home gym. I wanted to enjoy my fit journey with workouts that didn’t consist of constant cardio. The gym and working out was nothing new to me, but IgniteGirls pushed me to the next level! The workouts are amazing and fresh. I never get bored and look forward to pushing myself even more every month.

Starting off my IgniteGirls journey I did the 30-day Sugar Momma Challenge™ (free sugar free challenge). It opened my eyes to the food I was putting into my body, and made me aware of the food I SHOULD be eating instead. Finding a fitness coach who understands that sometimes you really do need that cookie (and doesn’t make you feel guilty) is a miracle. Then there was the 7-Day Summer Skinny Plan (her free detox) which, I’ll admit, I was skeptical of at first. I’ve never been a fan of detoxes I thought it was crazy to restrict yourself to a liquid diet, but then I read Keri’s detox. She blew me away with her understanding of the human body! The detox itself was amazing, and well-needed after the holiday. I never felt hungry and actually had trouble eating an entire meal sometimes. Now with my new perspective on eating, I realize it’s a healthy lifestyle to fuel my body. As a mom this means a lot to me because now I have the tools to show my children that eating healthy doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your food.
I am so thankful for Keri and all of the other IgniteGirls members for their support. After my first child, my fitness lifestyle consisted of just cardio and a strict diet. I have never been a fitness junkie. In fact, the sight of college girls toting yoga mats around D.C., and the growing amount of over-priced Lululemon stores has always intimidated me and been a complete turn off (since when did working out become super trendy? Not to mention expensive?) But last summer after seeing what I saw when I gazed down at my polished pedicure while wearing my bikini (or rather, what I COULDN’T see) made me realize I needed to make a change!

After seeing Keri’s posts regarding IgniteGirls+ on Facebook including the amazing “before and after” photos of her clients, I decided to take a closer look. Everything about it sounded appealing and seemed realistic for me. The idea that I didn’t have to spend money on a gym or spend time traveling to a gym, and I was allowed to eat six meals a day, started to sound better than that day-old box of Krispy Kreme donuts probably sitting on my kitchen counter once upon a time.

Wait a second, you may say. I get different workouts each month that I can mix up and do in the comfort of my own home, and I’ll never go hungry? Yep! Plus the fantastic support group of other IgniteGirls+ members on Facebook that you gain access to through a private group setting. It’s a great venue to share recipes, ask questions, encourage one another, or to just vent!

The other HUGE bonus is having access to Keri 24/7 as your personal trainer, nutritional and fitness mentor, and friend. I don’t know anywhere else that you can go to for weight loss with that kind of support. She knows when you need a kick in the rear-end to get you moving, but also when it’s time to slow down or take a step back. Without Keri’s overwhelming support and nutritional guidance, IgniteGirls wouldn’t be the life-changing operation that it is. Rest assured, once you sign up she will never give up on you!

Everything about IgniteGirls has been amazing. I was able to lose 5 inches in 6 months, but that doesn’t even compare to the improvements I’ve noticed in other areas of my life. Aside from looking better in my clothes, including the bikini aforementioned, I have had more energy, started sleeping better, had less joint pain in my knees (among other physical ailments), and gained so much more knowledge about the importance of what I am putting into my body. Gaining knowledge about how to eat more healthily is actually partly what gave me the self-esteem that I was lacking.

My main motivation in joining IgniteGirls+ was in preparation for my upcoming wedding.
