Strawberry Banana Chocolate Bites recipe & the Hunny Bunny workout

Mmm, chocolate. And guess what?! Today’s recipe has it!

I love adding frozen bananas to my protein smoothies, or even making a healthy “ice cream” alternative simply by pureeing and eating out of a bowl.

Strawberry Banana Chocolate Bites

  • 1 pint fresh organic strawberries
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 ziplock, or piping bag with medium tip
  • 5 oz organic, dark chocolate
  • optional: chopped raw nuts to mix with banana

In a microwave-safe bowl, cook chocolate until melted in 30 second intervals, stirring each time until chocolate is smooth. Holding strawberries by the stem, dip each one into melted chocolate without touching leaves. Place, stem side down, on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and chill in refrigerator until hardened. Once the chocolate has set, hull strawberries by carefully cutting out the stem and leaves creating a hollow inside. Be careful not to crack the chocolate, and to work fast with those warm fingers! Set aside.

In a blender or food processor, puree one frozen (slightly softened) banana. You can also add other fun ingredients such as chopped raw (or toasted) nuts, shredded unsweetened coconut, a sprinkle of ground cinnamon or a dollop of vanilla greek yogurt. Once pureed, add mixture to a ziplock or piping bag so it is easier to fill the strawberries. Fill each strawberry to the top, and garnish the filling with chopped nuts or coconut. Serve immediately. You can also store in the refrigerator until ready to serve, but you may risk the banana filling becoming soft and oozing out!
