Knocked-Up Fitness Prenatal DVD Review:
I think I mentioned Erica Ziel, founder of Knocked-Up Fitness, in a previous post before. Erica and I connected via email after she featured my Real Mom Blog story on her site back when I was about 19 weeks pregnant (now I’m 30 and time is flying!). We even tried to get together for an event, but realized that we are on opposite sides of the country, so maybe one day we will meet in person. BUT the next best thing to meeting in the flesh, has been working out with her in my living room with the Prenatal Pilates-Infused DVD set she sent me! And, yes, these are the same DVDs you may have seen featured in Oxygen, FitPregnancy Magazine and on SheKnows!

What I love about it:

  • gorgeous packaging – it’s girly, cute and stylish
  • comes with a resistance band!
  • great for beginners, and any fitness level
  • fantastic for any stage of your pregnancy
  • variety of unique exercises I don’t normally do
  • the stretching movements feel incredible
  • affordable
  • good for busy, expecting mommas

I consider myself more of a hardcore-worker-outter. I am usual attracted to high intensity workouts like boxing, spinning (hellooo, I am an instructor!), crossfit, power lifting, sprints and the like. I have a really hard time pushing myself to do yoga or pilates workouts. Don’t get me wrong, these workouts are challenging and tough in a whole different way, especially mentally, but I usually feel impatient and find myself looking at the clock. Once I opened Erica’s beautifully packaged DVD set, I was excited that it came with my very own resistance band, because surprisingly I don’t have one.

I started with Erica’s 12-minute Core Warm Up, which included some seriously awesome stretches using a stability ball (heaven on my aching back!). I loved this warm up. Next, I completed 3 additional workout segments that incorporated light dumbbells and/or the resistance band: Fitcamp, Pilates Arms and Pilates Legs, which made my total workout 38 minutes (including the warm up). The workouts are designed so that you complete a few different segments in a row per day for 6 days of the week. Your weekly training schedule is outlined very clearly inside the insert, and the workouts don’t exceed 40 minutes. The workouts were doable, except for one plank move I couldn’t do because my belly was literally in the way. Erica explained everything extremely well, and her sweet, soft-spoken demeanor was encouraging.

Overall, I really liked Erica’s personality and I enjoyed moving my body in different ways than I normally do. It made me sit still, focus on posture and the workout segments included exercises that had a nice fluidity to them. Even though I didn’t work up a sweat, I was surprisingly sore the next day in my arms. I would recommend these DVDs to any fitness level, at any stage in your pregnancy. Erica even made me consider looking into postpartum pilates because it felt so good. This busy mommy of 3 also has a book coming out, just launched an After Baby Pilates-Infused DVD and digital download set, and her blog offers tips from fighting fatigue during pregnancy to getting your abs back after baby.

My name is Bett. I am almost 18 weeks along in my pregnancy. I get to find out if it’s a boy or a girl in a week and a half!!! I would love to win these workouts so I can supplement the hardcore ignitegirls workouts with something geared more towards pregnancy. I am getting dizzy and lightheaded a lot, but I still want to workout. I wanna get stronger arms and work out my belly PLUS, I am really not wanting to keep all the baby fat on after the baby. Especially since I am due in the middle of summer!!

Good morning! I am 9 weeks along and have already fallen off the workout bus. 🙁 before I found out we were expecting I was doing metabolic workouts but I’ve just been so tired! I have acquired different workout videos but haven’t come across pregnancy centered instruction. These sound like they would be helpful and enjoyable. My kids birthdays are in February and March, so this will be my first summer pregnancy; I need some extra help!

    Take care, from snowy Pennsylvania!

Baby time is quickly coming for my husband and I, and I would love nothing more than to help me be in shape before and after. Healthy momma = healthy babies!

Hi! I’m 20.5 weeks pregnant with a baby boy 🙂 I’d love to win a workout video set because I’d live to know ways to incorporate more appropriate prenatal exercises into my workouts and to have a workout I can do at home!

I’m not currently pregnant but as a very active woman, I think these would be great tools to have once we do decide to have children (hopefully in the near future!).
